Who am I: A destination and hospitality/interior photographer based in Singapore, who has found grace from the Lord to win several international awards.
What are my background: Once a night owl having spent over 15 years as a musician and sound engineer, I traded late nights for early mornings and took up photography in 2003; not by choice but by circumstances, after I was made redundant in my last job. Before I stepped foot in the music & audio industry, I took up all sorts of jobs from auto parts delivery boy to construction site worker, from supermarket helper to van driver and many more which you don’t want to know!
What am I doing now: As an assignment destination photographer, I photographs a broad range of subject that is related to the travel and tourism industry. I find inspiration in photographing people, culture and destinations and hence my pictures centred mostly around human interest, with stories building upon and within each location. For social documentary, I'm working with an NGO on social, environmental and clean water issues within the Asian region. I constantly juggle my time and swapped my role as destination to commercial photographer, working in a totally different environment and with different equipments. In my commercial photography business, I shoot hospitality projects (hotels/resorts/villas), commercial spaces and private residences.
What else am I doing: Besides what I have mentioned above, I collaborate with several licensed travel agents & tour companies to lead photo tours and I have lead over 60 guided photography tours since 2007. I am available for collaboration with companies & brands for public speaking engagement, workshops and activities. I have also been working with other photographers, both long and short term projects in different industries.
Achievements that's worth mentioning: I had the honour to co-judge with Nat Geo photographer Ira Block for National Geographic Channel's photography contest and lead the winners to a photography workshop in Bali. My works have been featured in several airlines which includes Singapore Airlines, Turkish Airlines and SilkAir. I was featured in National Geographic's main website, publications such as Elle India, 8 Days, Stuff Magazine and more. I’m also pleased to be appointed as destination photographer for SilkAir and contributor for National Geographic Creative, Ink Global, Pixerf and Stocksy United.
I used to work in Canon Singapore as a resident photography instructor. Since 2006, over 20,000 people have attended my technical trainings, courses and workshops. I have lectured in many institutions in Singapore such as; National University of Singapore, United World College, American International School, Indian Global International School, Hwa Chung International School, Victoria Junior College and more. I have also taught and lectured in many esteem corporations such as Temasek Holdings, Singapore Airlines, Capital Land, Keppel Corp, Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank, ANZ, JP Morgan, UOB, BP, Ikea, DHL, Media Corp and Comfort Delgro to name just a few. My teaching assignments have brought me to Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Cambodia, where I shared my favourite passion with local enthusiasts. I'm currently one of Sony Digital Workshop's (SDW Singapore) instructor, leading photography tours and conducting photography workshops.
